Warm-up Like a Pro

Picture

As we are deep into the season, at the Neo HQ we thought it would be beneficial to share some wisdom on what makes ‘the perfect warm up’.
A good warm up can be the difference between winning and losing a bike race and is sometimes overlooked by riders. It switches the body on by kick-starting the glycolysis process and gets your head in the zone and ready to do battle. To warm up effectively for a criterium, you need around 20-25 minutes, which should finish with roughly 15mins before kick off. We recommend warming up on the turbo as opposed to the road so you can be more precise with the power and avoid any last minute punctures!

One of our favourite warm ups at NEOPRO is the photo above. This is perfect in getting the legs fired up. Set up your bike on the turbo, put cotton buds up the nostrils with olbas oil to make sure the airways are clear and get some classic Eminem on the headphones to get in the zone! Other music genres also available :D

Give the warm up a try, and tweak if you need to suit you as a rider, and also the event. This warm-up specifically we would recommend for a 60min criterium, a 10mile TT, and even a 20min test in training, if you feel it is needed.
